Chilblands is my online alias and Vy is my birth name! You can address me as either one (I have no preference). Chilblands was named after chilblains. I developed chilblains in 2020, during my most important test of my teenage career (last high-school test- HSC) with swollen, itchy and red fingers. What comes after high-school was an absolute shit show with big changes in my early adult life, reminded by my cold fingers.
I am what people may call a digital native. In reality, I am a cellular native, I was given a phone by my single mother since the age of 8 years old. Mostly because I am often with different caretakers, and a cellular device allowed the illusion of safety. Like others, my phone became an extension of self, and I was self-harming myself through social media.
To escape from my phone, I deleted all social medias (except Reddit). I only used my phone to read comics and communicate with others. Since 2025, I've been trying to live a more fruitful life that is social media free. This means reconnecting with my hobbies that was neglected for doomscrolling and... TW... leaving my room (*O*)!!
So that's why I'm here! This site is a digital space for me to archive and share my hobbies, ramblings, and just to share random stuff (that I otherwise would share on social media).
I started learning html and css language at 15-16 years old through customising my Tumblr page. I have no formal education of computer language but my intermediate knowledge is gained through exploration and self-learning.
I learn by examples (Ctrl+U is my BFF) and foraging Stack Overflow questions. By continuously practicing newly learnt knowledge, inspecting other's codes and updating knowledge, I was able to build this site February 2026.
